Evaluation of labour market policy : methods, possibilities, limitations

Abstract

"The importance given to the evaluation of active labour market policy in the perception of at least (political) professional circles is shown by the fact that the clause contained in the Coalition Agreement between the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Christian Social Union (CSU) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) of the year 2009 (CDU/CSU/FDP 2009) that labour market policy instruments were 'to be tested' was translated completely automatically into the mandate to carry out a comprehensive evaluation. No doubt labour market policy is today one of the policy fields with the highest degree of academic accompaniment and discourse between academic circles and politicians. Evaluation stands in the service of evidence-based policy." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku)
