Abstract

"The Minimum Wage Commission has to reach a decision on adjustments of the level of the compulsory minimum wage and has to submit its second report on the effects of the compulsory minimum wage to the Federal Government by 30 June 2018. Against this background, the Minimum Wage Commission has requested the IAB to provide a statement on the effects of the compulsory minimum wage within the framework of a written hearing.<br> The insights gained from research on the minimum wage carried out at IAB are presented in detail in this current statement. After a basic assessment of the consequences of the minimum wage, effects on wages and income, insights to date on the impact of the minimum wage on employment, and findings on further effects of the minimum wage are discussed. Moreover, the degree to which the Minimum Wage Act has been implemented and the related obligations to record hours of work are elaborated." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
