Female Migrants and Household Services: Immigration influences the labour market participation of native women
Abstract
"Women are still often in a conflict between family and work. This is especially true for West Germany, where there are fewer child care services than in most other European countries. International studies show that immigration has an impact on how native women divide their time between housework and gainful employment. For the first time, the authors examine for Germany whether and how the immigration of female migrants changes the supply of household services in Germany and how this affects the employment behavior of native women."
