Unter welchen Bedingungen würden sich Beschäftigte weiterbilden?

Abstract

"Further training is one way to adapt the workforce to the changing demands of the labour market. An important condition for further training to take place - besides the availability of adequate programmes and the access to programs - is the willingness of employees to participate in those courses. We conduct a factorial survey to analyse which characteristics of further training programmes have an impact on the willing-ness of employees to participate in training. The findings show that the self-assessed probability of workers that they would participate in a programme increases if courses take place during working hours, if the employer fully finances training, and if participants can expect financial returns. In contrast, longer commuting times to the training vicinity have a negative impact on the self-assessed probability to participate. The study contributes to the discussion on training motivation and show how features of further training courses can increase or decrease participation. This can be particularly important if one aims to motivate groups currently underrepresented in further training to participate in such activities." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
