Junge Berufseinsteiger aus Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Abstract

"The emigration from eastern Germany is a topic of controversial discussions in politics and research. In this article the inner-state mobility of a vocational training cohort (2000) from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the first seven years is analyzed by use of an individual data-record. Beginning with the first day in training, the education and the labor-market performance are central themes. The main aspect of the examination is the regional mobility within the federal states of Germany. In order to this topic the days in employment, the periods of unemployment and the income are analyzed in interdependency to the regional mobility. The findings are problematically for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The school leavers which are moving to another state are superior qualified. At least nearly 40 Percent of the school-leavers have working experiences in other german-states. This pattern could be explained with the labor-market dimensions of employment, unemployment and income. The people who stay in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have a worse career-start than the people who emigrate to another state." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
