Qualification and professional field projections up to 2035 : regional differences shape the professional labour markets

Abstract

"In view of the aging population, Germany must prepare for an increased shortage of skilled labour in the medium to long term - despite the large number of immigrants over the last few years. Depending on the way the population and the economic structure are developing, differing labour market constellations are becoming apparent in the various regions. In order to be able to better estimate long-term regional developments both on the demand- as well as on the supply-side of the labour market, regionally specific model calculations up to 2035 were carried out on the basis of the current qualification and professional field projections for Germany as a whole."
