The quality of scientific policy advice : indecisiveness because of scientific uncertainty and political ambiguity

Abstract

"There have been numerous attempts to define and measure the quality of scientific policy advice. However, which characteristics describe the quality of scientific policy advice? The article discusses potential characteristics. Subsequently, it is argued that the uncertainty of scientific knowledge and the ambiguity of political goals result in vague policy advice, when concrete advisory services are concerned."
