Employers' retention of pension eligible employees: Shorter and more flexible working time are the most frequently used instruments
Abstract
"Against the background of demographic change the employment of older workers gains more and more in importance. The so called 'Flexirentengesetz' from 2016 was enacted to improve the conditions for individuals' flexible retirement transitions, including those workers who are already pension eligible. While this shall support employees in individually shaping their retirement transitions, it may also help employers to retain valuable workers. Based on the IAB Job Vacancy Survey, we quantify the extent to which establishments aim at retaining pension eligible employees. We also explore how often employers are successful in doing so and which measures are most frequently used for employee retention." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
