The frontline delivery of welfare-to-work in context

Abstract

The introductory section first deals with the contextual factors that are important for the implementation of activating labour market and social policies by the employment advisors and placement officers. In the forefront here are the political guidelines, such as the target groups and the labour market policy measures. The framework for implementing the policy is formed through governance, that is: which actors act together and in which way? In third place is how case management is organised within the implementing organisations. A fourth aspect is the professional context of the case manager (education; professional self-image). Following this, the authors describe the aim of the book, namely to give an insight into the activation practice of eight European countries and to assess the contextual factors, as well as the impacts of implementing the policy. Finally they provide an overview of the individual contributions. (IAB)
