Digitalisierung als Herausforderung für eine Weiterbildungspolitik

Abstract

"The new complex and intelligent digitalisation poses a significant challenge for labour and the labour market. While employment will not plummet, risks are high if the adjustment process does not succeed. Further training will be key in preparing the workforce for this technological change. We argue that further training should be supported by public policy in order to realise positive external effects, benefit from cooperation on the firm level and avoid the emergence of structural unemployment. While the Federal Employment Agency is in a good position for the implementation of such a policy, significant financial contributions should be tax-funded."
