The results of digitalisation for the world of work: reduction or growth in employment?

Abstract

"In order to define the results of digitalisation for the world of work, the likelihood that automatization will take place is often calculated for particular occupations. Dengler and Matthes (2015 a; 2015b) doubt that the study by Frey und Osborne (2013) can be transferred to Germany and have calculated the likelihood of automatization and/or the potential to substitute directly for Germany on the basis of the occupational data from the expert databank BERUFENET of the Federal Employment Agency which relates directly to the German labour market and education system. Moreover, Dengler and Matthes (2015 a; 2015b) assume that not occupations as a whole but rather only individual tasks within these occupations will be able to be replaced by computers or computer-controlled machines."
