Prematurely dissolved training contracts : Results of a survey of students in vocational schools and employment agencies
Abstract
"Prematurely dissolved training contracts indicate problems in the vocational education system. Although the vocational training market has improved significantly for apprentices in Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, early dissolution quotas of training contracts did not decline. In the present study, the importance of various factors for prematurely dissolved training contracts is examined. The analyses are based on a survey in vocational school classes in the Halle (Saale) and in southern Thuringia, and in Job Centers in both regions. Almost 1 300 trainees provided information about their current vocational training, or about 380 prematurely dissolved contracts. The analyses underline the importance of the cost of training and training allowance, of personal attention and the working atmosphere within the firms, and show that significant findings from other studies are relevant for the investigated region as well."
