Linked employer-employee data of the Institute for Employment Research (German LIAB)
Abstract
"The Linked Employer-Employee Dataset (German Employment Register, LIAB) of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) combines information from the survey data of the IAB Establishment Panel with administrative data on persons gained from processes of the Federal Employment Agency (BA). In all, there are three different LIAB models. The cross-sectional model provides information on persons who were employed by an establishment up to 30 June of a given year. In contrast to this, the longitudinal model and the mover model provide complete employment biographies of individual persons. Both models differ in the choice of establishments for the selection of samples. This article gives an overview of the LIAB models currently available and shows their approach and possibilities for use within the framework of organisational research."
