Erkenntnisse aus der Mindestlohnforschung des IAB
Abstract
"In this Statement, IAB is presenting insights gained from its research on the minimum wage. The minimum wage has not been an obstacle to a positive macroeconomic development in employment. However, the number of persons benefitting from the minimum wage is currently still difficult to quantify. In addition to this, wage effects are likewise difficult to quantify. The Federal Statistical Office has recently published initial findings on this matter. Findings from the IAB-Arbeitsmarktspiegel, a study aimed at monitoring developments after the introduction of the legal minimum wage, show that the number of exclusively marginal part-time employees in January 2015 had dropped to c. 94,000. With about half of these people, employment was converted into employment subject to social security contributions. An initial evaluation using data from IAB's Establishment Panel shows a moderate negative effect on employment which is mainly due to restraint in recruitment and hardly to any extent to dismissals at the establishments in question."
