Folgen der Finanzkrise: Wie robust ist der deutsche Arbeitsmarkt?

Abstract

"Due to the financial crisis in 2009 economy activity in Germany decreased at a size which has never been observed. The financial crisis stopped the booming labour market in autumn 2008 already and led to job losses as well as an increase in unemployment. Nevertheless, the German labour market has proved to be quite robust and is recovering. This owes to a strategy of safeguarding jobs. It has been practiced by employers, employees and the state and is based an internal numerical flexibility as well as a rational behaviour of all parties involved. Despite of the obvious economic recovery a period of low employment growth is to be expected for the near future which will cause difficulties for less competitive workers to enter the labour market."
