Equality: Where men and women stand in the area of work

Abstract

IAB researches gender aspects of the labour market from various different perspectives. The topic is anchored in all six Research Areas of the Institute and coordinated by the Gender Studies Working Group. In this issue the authors probe the reasons for salary inequality between male and female professions. They examine in detail employment quotas and volume of work from the standpoint of gender. They take a look at the new professional field of technology transfer and compare the wages of men and women, for instance in temporary work. They analyse the situation of lone parents vis-à-vis the labour market and placement offers for women and men in the basic income support scheme. And finally they compare the situation in the working world in Germany to that of other European countries. (IAB)
