Pay differentials between public and private sector employees
Abstract
"In many countries in the past few decades the public sector has experienced a rapid increase. Are traditional differences between the private- and public-sector labour market still important? This article analyses the wage differential between the private and the public sector and compares some important aspects of the wage structure within the two sectors (e.g. gender wage discrimination, qualificational, regional and firm-size wage differentials). The study uses the first wave of the German Establishment Panel, i.e. information from personal interviews with more than 4,000 firm representatives." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
