The framing of the record linkage consent question

Abstract

"In this research note, we test whether the framing of the linkage consent question can influence whether respondents agree to link their data. We conduct an experiment similar to Tourangeau and Ye's (2009) by framing the linkage question in terms of gains and losses. Based on the tenets of prospect theory, we hypothesized that the loss framing of the request would yield a higher rate of consent than the gain framing." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
