Chance on the labour market for occupationally and academically qualified persons in a regional comparison : results of the BIBB-IAB qualifications and occupational field projections

Abstract

"What qualifications - occupational or academic - will be in demand in the labour market of the future? And where will possible bottlenecks arise? This paper presents the results of the first regionally specific BIBB-IAB qualifications and occupational field projections (QuBe Project). The analyses show that, in interaction with the regional development of the population and the local economic structure, the situation on the labour market can range from large bottlenecks in labour to large surpluses. According to the projections, shortages will arise at the qualified level in almost all regions - and especially in the area of middle-level educational qualifications - but with differing consequences."
