Participation of those employed atypically in further occupational education

Abstract

"Atypical employment has become a great deal more important over the last years. The chances of those involved in atypical employment of taking up a normal employment relationship can be substantially improved by their participation in further training measures. However, our empirical analyses, which are based on data from the BIBB/BAuA Survey of Persons in Employment, show that people who are atypically employed are at a disadvantage vis-à-vis people in normal employment relationships. This applies especially to access to formal further training. Among the individual subgroups of persons atypically employed, those marginally employed and temporary agency workers take part in further training particularly less often than others. What is more, in the course of time the gap between people in normal employment and those employed atypically has widened." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku)
