Economic-structural and economic determinants of training and employment in Germany and its regions

Abstract

"Internationally comparative studies on the development of employment and training come to the conclusion that hardly any changes in in-house training in Germany took place during the worldwide financial and economic crisis of 2008/2009. However this only partially corresponds to reality. Our analyses on the basis of the IAB Establishment Panel show that, while the indicators observed for in-house training dropped more strongly during the financial and economic crisis, they rose again afterwards more strongly than the level of employment. In addition, in the period under observation, different developments did indeed take place at the level of the Federal States for the employment and training indicators observed."
