Material and social well-being of Unemployment Benefit II recipients
Abstract
"Based on the panel survey 'Labour Market and Social Security' (PASS), the paper describes the financial and social situation of means-tested welfare (Unemployment Benefit II) recipients. Compared to non-recipients the level of material deprivation and the poverty risk is higher among benefit recipients. Among the group of welfare recipients unemployed individuals are clearly more affected by deprivation and poverty than those who are employed. Apart from that, unemployed benefit recipients also display lower levels of life satisfaction, social integration and self-reported health." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
