Investing in the future: Labor market integration policies for new immigrants in Germany

Abstract

"This report analyzes how effectively workforce development and Integration policies in Germany support immigrants' progress from unemployment or low-skilled work to middle-skilled jobs. The report begins with an overview of immigration trends and the Labor market context in Germany. It then assesses recent efforts to make employment services and vocational training more open to workers with nontraditional and diverse needs, and explores several new initiatives to incorporate language education into work-focused or occupational training. Finally, it concludes by presenting a few recommendations for further policy development." (Text excerpt, IAB-Doku) ((en))
