The goal of full employment in Germany : Far, but achievable

Abstract

"Full employment is regularly stated as a goal of economic and labour market policy, but often it is believed to be utopian. By temporal and regional comparisons we find that full employment in Germany might be reached at an unemployment rate of two to three percent. This goal is still far, but it can be approached by further efforts above all concerning the education system, labour market policy and a strengthening of economic dynamics."
