Work for all: "Workers who are not capable of working on the labour market"
Abstract
"The third discussion event within the framework of the series of lectures 'Arbeit für alle' ('Work for everyone') revolves around the so-called 'nicht marktfähigen Arbeitskräften' ('employees not capable of entering the labour market'). This perhaps somewhat cynically sounding term represents two tendencies which are to be met nowadays in the world of work: on the one hand, it is being increasingly asserted out loud that modern society is running out of work, that is, more and more employees, for instance those of advanced years, cannot find work anymore. This is said to come from recent technological and economic developments which have freed up an increasing amount of employees and for which a part of the employees available on the labour market are not qualified enough for.<br> The other tendency which will play a role within the framework of today's event is the question of how it can be made possible that precisely these employees designated 'non-capable of the market' could possibly cover areas in the field of work that could contribute to preventing an alienation between society and the state. Such areas might be, for example, social work, work with ill persons and families, etc." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku)
