Occupational sex segregation in the labor market : Male and female domains nearly unchanged

Abstract

"This report analyses the trend in occupational sex segregation among employees in the West German labor market from 1976 to 2010. We find a high level of occupational sex segregation throughout this period of time. While men work more often in highly segregated fields, women are concentrated in a smaller range of occupations. Occupational sex segregation decreased only slightly over the past 35 years, and this trend was mainly caused by structural changes in the occupational composition of the West German labor market."
