European migration flows and labour market integration : the developments on the German labour market
Abstract
"The German labour market attracts people, above all Europeans. In 2012, the Federal Republic of Germany exhibited an immigration gain of close to 400,000 persons, of whom two-thirds were from the European Union. In particular, with the extension of the EU eastwards in 2004, fear arose of immigration for reasons of poverty and that migrants would might take jobs away from domestic German labour."
