Skilled workers wanted - recruitment problems of healthcare services

Abstract

"Healthcare services are of great importance for public welfare. In the recent past the sector has experienced rapid growth in both turnover and employment. The paper analyses recruitment by firms that provide healthcare. It draws on certain indicators for the development of employment and hiring. These indicators suggest that firms already face difficulties in recruiting skilled labour and the demand for labour will also be considerable in the future. Without any additional efforts it will be difficult for the sector to meet the projected requirements. Against this background, the paper discusses alternative courses of action that aim to identify additional labour supply for the industry as well as increase firms' competitiveness."
