Occupational qualification and the labour market: Education is the best protection against unemployment

Abstract

"The unemployment rate in Germany strongly declined between 2006 and 2011. However, the unemployment risk is closely connected to qualification. In 2011, nearly 20 percent of people without occupational qualification were hit by unemployment whereas only 2.4 percent of the graduates were jobless.
