Still a lot of potential in working hours

Abstract

"A new model jointly developed by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) projects the development of labor supply and demand in Germany up to the year 2030. Differentiated by qualification and twelve major occupational fields, it shows how many people are likely to offer their work and how many are needed. The projection offers insight from the perspective of both a 'head-based' and an 'hours-based' model. The latter leads to a scenario in which the future labor market is less strained due to untapped potential lying in working hours." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
