Regional incidence of unemployment insurance : an empirical analysis of regional distribution and income stabilising effects

Abstract

"This paper takes a look at financial compensation by means of the regional distribution of income and expenses of unemployment benefit. What is examined is the regional incidence for the years 2003 and 2007 for districts and federal states as well as the regional distribution and stabilisation effects for the years from 2000 to 2007. The results indicate strong regional distribution effects. In 2003, regional compensation reached a level of 9.4 billion euros, in 2007 a level of 1.9 billion euros." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku)
