Die Mehrebenenanalyse als Werkzeug der Arbeitssoziologie

Abstract

"The sociology of work often deals with questions concerning the changing process of work over time. For this purpose, this article examines - by analysing the practical dimension of subjectivisation of work (Kleemann et al. 2003) - the possibilities of a current quantitative approach - multilevel analysis. This statistical method can be used for investigating longitudinal data. Multilevel analysis is a type of regression analysis. The advantage of this method is the ability to estimate individual trends over the time. In this way, the procedure enables the examination of both individual effects (e.g. education, sex, migration) and structural effects (e.g. tertiarisation). Furthermore, multilevel analysis allows for the investigation of processes of heterogenisation. Such an approach complements the primary qualitative research of the sociology of work."
