Further training in a state of flux: A discussion with Raimund Becker, BA Executive
Abstract
"As a result of demographic change, it could be that German companies have five to six million workers less at their disposal by 2030. However this is not something the lower skilled will benefit from - on the contrary: the economy is demanding more and more qualifications from employees. Further training and qualifications are hence even more important than before if a dearth of skilled labour is to be avoided. Raimund Becker, a member of the Executive Board of the Federal Employment Agency (BA), calls for a broad change in consciousness and talks of prevention in schools, unused potential and training promotion options for the unemployed, employees and enterprises."
