Further in-house training and the employment stability of elder persons: Do people who receive further training stay longer?

Abstract

"Further occupational training is an important prerequisite for raising the employment quota of older employees. It must however be profitable for the establishment in question to invest in the further training of older staff. Establishments that do so are likely to have a greater interest in retaining such employees. Data from the IAB Establishment Panel do indeed show that at least for the eastern part of Germany employment stability for older employees does increase in parallel to further training activities. In the western part of Germany however, this effect is hidden by other factors." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
