Longer working time, working time accounts, and part-time employment : econometric analyses
Abstract
"Questions of working time arrangements have always been discussed controversially with respect to economic and bargaining agreement policy. It would seem that the debate tends to be conducted on an ideological basis rather than on an empirical one. This is the starting point for Hans-Dieter Gerner's study. Based on a broad data basis, he examines three current key questions of working time policy on which, up to now, only very limited empirical findings have been available:
- What consequences do extended weekly working times have for employment?
- How do working time accounts affect efficiency, profit situation and the development of employment at the establishment level?
- What effects did the introduction of a legal entitlement to part-time work in 2001 have on the development of part-time employment?"
