Vocational training and further education in Germany

Abstract

"This report is the result of a revised form of the previous reporting on in-house training and further training. In comparison to earlier reports, for two years now time series on elementary indicators have been presented - that is, since the Data Report 2009 with data of up to 2007 - and this will also be continued in future. In this expert report, Chapter 2 describes what the data is based on: the IAB Establishment Panel. In Chapter 3 there follows the main part of the report which is devoted to in-house vocational training. This is intended to shine light on the basic structures of in-house vocational training while considering potentials for vocational training and analysing the subsequent employment of those completing the training at the establishment that has trained them. Finally, in Chapter 4, the situation of further in-house training in the Federal Republic of Germany is examined: we look at participation in further in-house training but also the question of in which areas a particularly large number or a particularly small number of staff are given the opportunity of such further training."
