Minimum Wages and Basic Income Support from an Economic Perspective
Abstract
"Legal minimum wages, basic income support and the introduction of an unconditional basic income are discussed in the light of a growing low-wage sector and high long-term unemployment in Germany. The article analyses the topic in the context of different social and economic policy objectives. Among these are, foremost, the prevention of poverty and limitation of social inequality, the creation of positive performance and employment incentives, and the limitation of fiscal burdens for public budgets."
