Betriebsgröße, Qualifikationsstruktur und Weiterbildungsbeteiligung

Abstract

"Using data from the IAB-Establishment Panel, the article investigates firms' further training activities in the context of establishment size and qualification structure and asks for the reasons for the differences in training participation between small and large establishments on the one hand and less and high skilled employees on the other hand. One result of the analysis is that small firms invest less often in further training than larger firms do but that they offer training to a higher share of employees if they decide to carry out training activities. Furthermore, the study stresses the importance of the qualification level for training participation and shows that less skilled employees in small firms have a particularly low participation rate in training."
