Field analysis as a research programme

Abstract

"Where field analysis (...) is concerned, the heterogeneity of research practices seems to be a virtual characteristic. We argue that this variety is to be understood as an expression of the fact that, in the first instance, field research is not a theory but a research programme. It is our aim to work out the cornerstones of this field theoretical research programme and to alleviate access to the research programme. In our article we will explain what we mean by the reference to the 'programme character' of field research. Subsequently we will sketch the outlines of the field research programme and explain what significance construction of a theory and methodology have within this." (Text excerpt, IAB-Doku) ((en))
