Matching Processes on Occupational Labour Market Segments

Abstract

"This paper presents new estimations of matching functions using level and rate figures with data for the German labour market in the years 1983 through 2004, disaggregated by occupations. On the basis of the estimations with level figures, a changed pattern of matching functions in occupational labour market segments is found, compared to other studies. By the utilisation of rate figures, it becomes possible to use model categories that suit the characteristics of the available data better. A pooled mean group model was used. The findings indicate positive elasticities and considerably diminishing economies of scale." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku)
