Further Increasing Mobility of Employees in Brandenburg : Findings of the IAB Commuter Analysis 2008 on Labour Mobility of Men and Women

Abstract

"The increase in mobility of the labour force in Berlin-Brandenburg is accelerating. Main reasons for this increasing mobility are found in the overcoming of regional disparities on the labour market and preferences of residence (urban or suburban area). Commuting therein makes an important contribution to easing regional labour market situations. A lot of commuters accept long distances, or commute for the entire working week, to stay connected to their resident region for various reasons, as the commuter analysis of the Institute for Employment Research Berlin-Brandenburg has found."
