Program participations by lone mothers of young children receiving Unemployment Benefit II: Frequently in One-Euro-Jobs, seldom in firm-based training

Abstract

"Many lone mothers in Germany have interrupted their employment to care for their children. For those receiving means-tested unemployment benefits, labor market program participation can be one strategy to improve their employment chances. This study examines lone mothers' participation in One-Euro-Jobs, training programs, and job subsidies and investigates the impact of the local childcare infrastructure on program participation rates."
