Qualitative-interpretive methods in social policy implementation research

Abstract

"This chapter sheds light on the contribution of qualitative-interpretive methods for studying social policy implementation. With a focus on micro-sociological approaches, selected methods such as conversation analysis, documentary method and biographical analysis are presented, using example studies in the field of social policy implementation to illustrate the applicability and compatibility of these methods. This is followed by a general discussion of the benefits and limitations of qualitative-interpretive methods in this research field and concludes with an outlook for further research."
