Recruiting Skilled Workers from Abroad: Assessments in Practice and Challenges in German Companies. IAB Statement on the hearing at the German Council of Economic Experts on 13 October 2022

Abstract

"In preparation for the 2022/2023 annual report of the German Council of Economic Experts (Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Entwicklung), the IAB was asked to provide its expertise on the assessment of the conditions for the recruitment of foreign skilled workers by companies in Germany. A central consideration was the question of whether there is a need for political action in this area.
