Supply chain disruptions in Germany in 2021: Establishments respond by adjusting production, prices and personnel

Abstract

"Based on data from an establishment survey, we assess the extent of supply chain disruptions in Germany in the year 2021. According to our results, about 70 percent of establishments which report to receive intermediate inputs were affected by supply chain disruptions. Almost 90 percent of affected establishments report that disruptions had a negative effect on their business. We also find that establishments responded to the supply chain disruptions by making changes to their network of suppliers, raising prices, reducing hiring and using short-time work."
