Effects of the digital transformation on the labor market and occupational structure

Abstract

"This article looks at the effects of the digital transformation on the labor market and occupational structure. It first discusses what is meant by "digital transformation". It documents the substitution potential of occupations through the use of existing technologies by requirement level and occupational segment. It is shown that existing substitution potentials are not exploited immediately and not always, and that occupations are changing. This results in challenges for vocational education and training, in particular the faster consideration of technological innovations in the curricula of training occupations."
