Digitales selbstgesteuertes Lernen Erwerbstätiger in der Corona-Krise
Abstract
"The COVID-19 pandemic has made access to learning opportunities in the form of face-to-face events—the most common form of learning in adulthood—impossible. Many firms have scaled back their training investments due to economic uncertainty. One way to fill this gap is learning via the Internet. Learning opportunities via web-based apps or videos are available everywhere and can be used flexibly in terms of time. However, were these offers increasingly used in the first months of the crisis, and if so, by which groups? Using data from the regular NEPS-SC6 panel together with an additional wave in May and June 2020, we can show that professional use of digital learning opportunities increased during the first months of the pandemic. At the same time, however, educational inequalities in usage are reinforcing. Highly educated employees seem to profit most from the increased supply of digital learning whereas the less educated do not." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
