Migrants in the German labour market: job quality as an important measure of integration

Abstract

"Employment – the quality of jobs in particular – is essential for successfully and sustainable economic and societal integration of migrants in the host societies. The present report compares migrants and non-migrants with regard to a range of objective and subjective job quality indicators such as earnings, occupational status, intrinsic job quality, psychosocial and physical strain and job insecurity. Results suggest that the quality of jobs of migrants differs considerably from that of employees without a migration background. Furthermore, the quality of jobs increases over duration of stay and generations." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
