Abstract

"In preparation for the Annual Report 2020/2021 of the German Council of Economic Experts, the IAB was asked to provide its expertise on how innovation activities as well as research and development (R&D) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany (before the Covid 19 pandemic) have developed and to what extent skill shortages are an obstacle to low research activity.
