Abstract

"The gender wage gap is at the forefront of numerous studies and political debates. In the age of gender equality in every life circumstances, the difference in pay between men and women has an enormous societal topicality and culminates in the demand for 'equal pay for equal work'. Thus, to what extent do women and men differ in their working environment? What drives the unequal distribution of women and men in branches and occupations? Which part of the gender wage gap is motivated by this labor market segregation? Does the unexplained part of the wage gap show the extent of pay discrimination?"
